Waymarkr ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our iOS application.
Information We Collect
Account Information
When you create an account, we collect:
- Email address - Used for account authentication and communication
- Name and profile picture - If you sign in with Google, we receive your basic profile information
Location Data
Waymarkr is designed to help you save and organize travel locations. We collect:
- Saved places - Locations you extract from videos and choose to save
- Device location - Only when you explicitly grant permission, used to show your position on the map and find nearby saved places
We do not track your location in the background or when the app is closed.
Video Processing
When you share a video URL with Waymarkr, we extract location information from the video content. We do not store any video data - videos are processed in real-time and no video content is saved to our servers.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide and maintain the Waymarkr service
- Authenticate your account and keep it secure
- Sync your saved locations across devices
- Extract location data from videos you share with us
- Improve and optimize our services
- Respond to your support requests
Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored securely using Supabase, which provides:
- Encrypted data storage
- Secure authentication with industry-standard protocols
- Row-level security ensuring you can only access your own data
We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction.
Third-Party Services
Waymarkr uses the following third-party services:
- Supabase - Authentication and database hosting
- Google OAuth - Sign-in authentication
- Google Places API - Location verification and details
- Mapbox - Map display and visualization
- Unsplash - Location imagery
Each of these services has their own privacy policies governing their use of data.
Data Retention
We retain your account information and saved locations for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from the Profile tab in the app, which will permanently remove all your data from our servers.
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access - View all your saved locations and account information in the app
- Delete - Remove individual locations or delete your entire account
- Export - Your saved locations are accessible through the app
Children's Privacy
Waymarkr is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
